The commercial area of Biel is excellently served both for private and for public transport. The city of Biel, on the North-South Geneva-Basle axis, is one of the most important transport junctions of the Western part of Switzerland. From Biel, the major international airports of Zurich, Basle and Geneva, as well as the smaller airport of Berne Belp, are accessible within a short time.
Infrastructure
The commercial region of Biel has a modern, well developed infrastructure for transport, hotels and catering,, shopping, leisure and, in particular, education. There are local educational institutions covering the fields of technology, art, architecture and marketing, and the internationally recognised Swiss Federal University for Sport in Magglingen.
Biel is constantly introducing new infrastructural development projects, for example the new city centre project Esplanade, with service and apartment uses as well as a public area.
